Resumes Text Search
The Resumes text search page of ROL is a useful search feature. It is used as a "search engine" to locate candidates who have the search criteria keyword/s within their resume or document files stored on the database.
The results are collated into a list for the user to view the candidates who match the criteria entered.
The search results can also be linked to a job in Recruiter, so that you can re-visit your search results and keep a record of the searches you have conducted for that particular job.
How to Search
- Select what type of file you are searching:
- Any - find any files in any File Group
- Resume / CV - find only files which are in the File Group of 'CANDIDATE RESUME'
- Document - find only files which are in the File Group of 'CANDIDATE'
- OH&S Document - find only files which are in the File Group of 'OH&S CANDIDATE'
- Enter the keywords you wish to search for, eg Reception, Microsoft Excel, Invoicing (see below for more info on how to insert keywords)
- Select location:
- Selected country, or
- Any country
- If 'Selected Country' is chosen, select from Country list
- If 'Selected Country' is chosen, user can also narrow down 'Selected State' list
- If Any country is chosen, ignore State selection
- Select if you would like to pin the search results to a job in Recruiter or leave as N/A (for Recruiter resume search, see Recruiter: Search)
- Click 'Search ROL' to conduct your search
How to Insert Keywords to Search
Search Criteria
The following examples demonstrate some search keywords that use boolean full-text operators:
| Type this: | Finds this: |
| apple banana | Find documents that contain at least one of the two words. |
| +apple +juice | Find documents that contain both words. |
| +apple macintosh | Find documents that contain the word "apple", but rank the document higher if it also contains the word "macintosh". |
| +apple -macintosh | Find documents that contain the word "apple" but not "macintosh". |
| +apple ~macintosh | Find documents that contain the word "apple", but if the document also contains the word "macintosh" then rank it lower. This is "softer" than a search for '+apple -macintosh', for which the presence of "macintosh" causes the document not to be returned at all. |
| apple* | Find documents that contain words such as "apple", "apples", "applesauce", or "applet". |
| "apples are juicy" | Find documents that contain the exact phrase "apples are juicy". |
