About

Recruiter screens are forms that are inserted into the application process - prior - to the candidate being applied to a job.

Recruiter screen forms facilitate:

  • Candidate profiling
    • You can collect specific information that can be searched
    • You can get a weighting for a candidate's suitability [Recruit Online generates a score]
  • Candidate processing
    • Candidate's can be accepted or rejected at application which can save the candidate's and your time
    • Candidates can be communicated with using tailored messages depending on the outcome of their screening
    • Candidates can be moved up or down the screen status hierarchy based on a variety of metrics.

One screen profile can be used for many jobs.

Best practices:

  • Set up generic screens to cover the jobs that you fill
  • Try to aim for scored and non-scored questions to give the candidate a better experience
  • Don't have an excessive amount of questions
  • If in doubt, relax the criteria of a screen to get candidates applying. If it turns out that you are swamped with candidate applications, you can always set more stringent criteria.

Key Terminology

Recruiter Screen Form

  • A collection of questions that are answered by candidates when they apply for a job.

Screen Policy

  • A policy that dictates if a candidate will be accepted or rejected if they fail some or all of the questions.

Screen Outcome

  • On completion of the screen, the candidate will be assigned an outcome of 'PASSED', 'FAIL ONE OR MORE', or 'FAIL ALL'.

Score

  • The user assigns points between 1-10 for each correct answer. These are totaled into a score once the candidate completes the form.

Screen Status Policy

This only affects the down-grading of a candidate's Recruiter screen status to the status of 'Not Suitable' and has the options of:

  • N/A = It has no effect. Regardless of the Screen Outcome, the candidate status will not be marked down to 'Not Suitable'
  • FAIL ONE OR MORE = If the candidate screen outcome is 'FAIL ONE OR MORE' or 'FAIL ALL' then their application will be marked down to 'Not Suitable'
  • FAIL ALL = If the candidate screen outcome is 'FAIL ALL' (and not 'FAIL ONE OR MORE') then their application will be marked down to 'Not Suitable'

NOTE: : If the candidate screen outcome is 'PASSED', then none of the preceding options have any bearing on the application and it will default to 'Not Screened'

Possibly Suitable Threshold

  • This is a number that you choose
  • If the candidate's score is greater than or equal to this number then their application will be marked up to 'Possibly Suitable'
  • The Screen Status Policy must be 'N/A' --- OR --- the candidate must have achieved a Screen Outcome of 'PASSED'

Short List Threshold

  • This is the same as the Possibly Suitable Threshold except higher
  • This is a number that you choose
  • If the candidate's score is greater than or equal to this number then their application will be marked up to 'Shortlisted'
  • The Screen Status Policy must be 'N/A' --- OR --- the candidate must have achieved a Screen Outcome of 'PASSED'

About Screen Policy

What is it for?

The "Screen Policy" is how you

  • PERMIT
    • Regardless of if the candidate passes or fails the criteria set, permit them to apply to the job.
    • The "Permit Text" (as specified by the user) will appear on this screen.
  • ENFORCE-PERMIT
    • If the candidate fails to meet the criteria set, permit them with the opportunity to apply to the job anyway
    • The "Fail Permit Text" (as specified by the user) will appear on this screen.
  • ENFORCE-DENY
    • If the candidate fails to meet the criteria set, deny them the ability to go further with their application
    • The "Fail Deny Text" (as specified by the user) will appear on this screen.

Screen Status Policy

The 'SSP' is basically a setting for when to mark the applicant as 'Not Suitable' in the Recruiter screen of ROL:

Candidate Outcomes:

  • PASSED = A candidate has passed the screen when all possible EVALUATED RESPONSES have been met.
  • FAIL ONE OR MORE = A candidate has not met some of the possible EVALUATED RESPONSES.
  • FAIL ALL = A candidate has not met any of the possible EVALUATED RESPONSES.

Recruiter Screen Thresholds:

  • Shortlisted (The shortlist threshold score was met)
  • Possibly Suitable (The possibly suitable threshold score was met)

If the SSP is set to 'N/A'

N/A means a candidate cannot be made 'Not Suitable' from the auto-screening process.

  • 'PASSED' - If the Candidate has PASSED the criteria, the Threshold applies. The candidate will be either marked as 'Shortlisted' or 'Possibly Suitable', dependent on where their score sits in the threshold.
  • 'FAIL ONE OR MORE' or 'FAIL ALL' - If the candidate has failed some or all, the Threshold will not apply and the candidate will be marked as 'Not Screened'

If the SSP is set to 'FAIL ONE OR MORE'

  • 'PASSED' - If the Candidate has PASSED the criteria, the Threshold applies. The candidate will be either marked as 'Shortlisted' or 'Possibly Suitable', dependent on where their score sits in the threshold.
  • 'FAIL ONE OR MORE' or 'FAIL ALL' - If the candidate has failed some or all, the Threshold will not apply and the candidate will be marked as 'Not Suitable'

If the SSP is set to 'FAIL ALL'

  • 'PASSED' - If the Candidate has PASSED the criteria, the Threshold applies. The candidate will be either marked as 'Shortlisted' or 'Possibly Suitable', dependent on where their score sits in the threshold.
  • 'FAIL ONE OR MORE' - If the candidate has failed some of the criteria, the Threshold will not apply and the candidate will be marked as 'Not Screened'
  • 'FAIL ALL' - If the candidate has failed all of the criteria, the Threshold will not apply and the candidate will be marked as 'Not Suitable'
